Compensation: $150k-$175k + Bonus
Company Overview:Cal Tek Staffing is partnering with an established San Diego engineering firm that designs custom industrial environmental and gas-treatment systems for chemical, metals, waste-treatment, and other process-intensive applications. Systems are engineered in-house and fabricated through a network of qualified suppliers. The work combines mechanical equipment design, industrial piping, process layout, structural integration, and close coordination with vendors and fabricators.
Position Overview:The Project Manager owns custom-engineered projects end-to-end and is the single point of coordination among the client, fabrication vendors, and internal design engineers. The role owns the project budget and schedule from award through commissioning.
Critical experience:
Candidates must have experience designing, overseeing the fabrication of, and installing industrial piping, valves, and instrumentation, as well as vessels built to Section VIII of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- Reviewing customer specifications and translating them into design and procurement requirements
- Checking fabrication drawings: general arrangement, vessel, piping, and structural, against design intent and applicable codes
- Developing requests for quotation (RFQs), evaluating bids, and selecting and managing
- Overseeing and inspecting fabrication at supplier shops for compliance with project specifications, codes, and schedule
- Controlling technical documentation and reviewing the project package (calculations, drawings, data sheets, O&M manuals) for compliance with project requirements
- Assembling project documentation and supporting customer training and system turnover
- Owning project budget and schedule from award through commissioning
- BS or MS in mechanical or electrical engineering
- 10+ years of relevant industrial experience
Skills:
- Proficiency with Solid Works (3D CAD / detail design) and Microsoft Project
- Working knowledge of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1, and of industrial piping, valves, and instrumentation design (P&IDs)
- Familiarity with FRP / ASME RTP-1 corrosion-resistant equipment (a plus, given wet, corrosive scrubber service)
- Experience developing RFQs, evaluating fabricator bids, and managing vendors through the fabrication cycle
- Experience communicating directly with vendors and clients
- Experience managing budgets and schedules and working from engineering specifications
