Electronics (Electrical) Engineering Position

This position is for an Electronics (Electrical) Engineering position within the Fleet Support Team at Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW).

Duties:

  • Perform critical tasks such as avionics systems software/hardware developments, upgrades and modifications, mishaps, engineering investigations, technical support assists, risk mitigation, configuration management, and airworthiness.
  • Compile and analyze data to determine failure modes, failure classifications and root cause using advanced data analytic methods, while investigating methodologies for sampling component populations to gain insight to failure root causes.
  • Investigate, research, and determine applicability of modifications for the program. This includes modifications that would extend service life, improve survivability, reliability and maintainability, and aircraft safety.
  • Resolve technical electronics engineering problems; identify programmatic constraints and develop proposed solutions considering all factors, establishing benefits for alternatives, identifies costs, and submits results/recommendation.

Requirements Conditions of employment:

    and category assigned to the position is required within established category time frames.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications:

For GS-05:
Qualification for the GS-05 level only requires applicants to meet the basic education requirements for the position.

For GS-07:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Applying basic standard engineering principles and practices.
  • Assisting with the preparation of correspondence, technical reports, and instructions for submittal to leadership.
  • Collaborating with superiors ensuring the technical engineering competence, knowledge, and professional services required to sustain the weapon system, associated components, and related support systems.

For GS-09:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Applying principles and practices of electronics engineering associated with aircrafts.
  • Researching and determining applicability of modifications for the program, including modifications that would extend service life, improve survivability, reliability and maintainability, and aircraft safety.
  • Developing products and services required to sustain economic operation and ensure airworthiness.

For GS-11:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Applying principles and practices of electronics engineering associated with aircrafts.
  • Utilizing knowledge of Electronics engineering and logistics management policies, practices and procedures used in the acquisition, design, overhaul, maintenance, modification and repair of aircraft weapon systems.
  • Providing superiors objectively based engineering information with a focus on technical analysis, engineering investigations, economic analysis, and support services for making platform sustainment and acquisition decisions.
