Job Description

A Lead Project Engineer at Dynovas leads a team of engineers and/or technicians in defining the direction, priorities, and execution tasks of a project. The Lead Project Engineer has a foundation in engineering with experience in related fields (e.g., composite structures, composite over wrapped pressure vessels, etc.). The Lead Project Engineer can execute autonomously on more complex technical tasks and derive solutions to technical challenges.

In addition, the Lead Project Engineer is accountable to program budgets, schedule, and other related aspects of the project.

Specifically, the Lead Project Engineer’s roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Integrated Product Team (IPT) for execution of all tasks
  • Establishing work plans based on technical requirements and expected outputs
  • Evaluate and define technical approach/progress on the project
  • Overseeing any collaborative relationships outside the Dynovas organization
  • Working with customer stakeholders to understand their program requirements
  • Communicating with customer representative to provide project status and obtain any feedback necessary to meet project objectives
  • Managing schedules to ensure project tasks are completed on time and on budget
  • Monitoring project budgets and making key work plan decisions to ensure cost projections agree with funding levels
  • Coordinating with the departments of Engineering, Operations, and Project Management to schedule and execute the project work plan
  • Creating/maintaining all Dynovas standard work for project management (e.g. project kickoff efforts, labor requests, project finance reporting, weekly status updates, action item lists, invoicing projections, program closeout efforts)
  • Generating all reports and Supplier Data Requirements List (SDRLs) necessary to complete established or contracted milestone
  • In collaboration with Dynovas’ business development team, identifying, pursuing, and acquiring technology transition opportunities

Lead Project Engineers will have the opportunity to grow with the organization in either a technical leadership role (Principal Engineer to Lead Engineer to Chief Engineer to Subject Matter Expert) or a Project Management role (Project Manager to Program Manager to Principal Investigator to Business Area Lead).

Candidate Qualification Requirements
  • 4-year degree in mechanical, structures, materials, or equivalent science/engineering program
  • 4+ years of experience with composite structures, assemblies, or mechanical engineering
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to interface well with customer stakeholders
  • Desire to solve problems independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Collaborate with experts in composite structures, mechanical systems, and innovative design
  • Collaborate with successful entrepreneurs on how to start, build, and grow a company
  • Work in a fun and collaborative environment with like-minded team members, developing next-generation prototypes for the aerospace industry
  • Acquire expertise in CREO Parametric CAD modeling, FEMAP, NASTRAN, FIBERSIM
