• Designs and plans layout for such processes as hardening, washing, laminating, etching, engraving, polishing, painting, plating, and other material-processing operations.
• Plans sequence of operations and specifies procedures for cutting, shaping, and otherwise preparing basic material, exercising judgment in compromising between conflicting requirements, economic evaluation of methods, and operator effectiveness and comfort.
• Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over such variables as temperature, density, specific gravity, pressure, and viscosity.
• Establishes and submits processing requirements to be met in designing and acquiring processing equipment.

Understand topics related to materials science and technology including Semiconductor, radio frequency and electro-optical materials, thin films, embedded antennas, nanotechnology, metals, composites, high-temperature materials, packaging materials, thermal protection, coatings, Lead-free solders, Corrosion, environmental and fatigue issues, materials databases, miscellaneous novel materials and processes, and additive manufacturing. Furthermore, the candidate would also have working knowledge of common conformal coating chemistries, materials, and equipment used for Acrylics (AR), Polyurethanes (UR), Silicones (SR), Epoxies (ER) and Parylene (XY) applications.

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Engineer Process who will support the Production Organization based in San Diego, CA.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related STEM area with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (or minimum of 3 years with a MS or 1 year with a PhD);
• Process Engineering experience.
• Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), 6 sigma concepts for process development, and control.
• Experience in introducing new processes and equipment into production environment.
• Siemens NX, Solid Works, and Minitab experience
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience in developing, documenting, and maintaining standardized manufacturing processes.
• Experience with process/procedure development, control, and improvement.
• Experience in MS Office software applications.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance is required.
• U.S. citizenship is required
