- Lead regional pre-construction efforts for Solar, On-Shore Wind, High Voltage, and Energy Storage Projects
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and subject-matter experts to evaluate EPC costs, schedules, and risks
- Review and provide feedback on engineering studies and preliminary design drawings
- Estimate and verify quantity takeoffs on preliminary design drawings
- Perform desktop site analysis and research publicly available construction information
- Support projects during offtake negotiation, permitting, and construction
- Conduct site visits and participate in on-site project development and construction meetings
- Monitor and report on local market requirements and constraints
- Lead procurement of EPC construction services from RFP launch through contract execution
- Educate contractors about the EDF portfolio and determine the bidder pool
- Prepare and distribute RFP packages and coordinate contractor Q&A
- Evaluate bid responses against internal estimates and key performance indicators
- Recommend contractor selection
- Negotiate EPC contracts, pricing, terms, and exhibits
- Contribute to process improvement and tool-development initiatives
- Evaluate the feasibility and impact of LCOE reduction initiatives
- Evaluate and incorporate lessons learned
- Manage strategic relationships with EPC contractors, including pre-qualification, onboarding, partnering sessions, and annual qualification updates
- Attend industry and company conferences
- Support project acquisition, permitting, stakeholder consultation, construction, and handover to Asset Optimization
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
- Comprehensive and diversified knowledge of renewables EPC market, industry best management practices, and engineering principles required to construct a renewable energy plant
- Extensive experience working and negotiating with EPC Contractors on contracts exceeding $100M
- Experience preparing cost estimates of varying detail and accuracy
- Experience performing estimate takeoffs
- Knowledge of renewable power plant design, including electrical and civil disciplines
- Prior experience working in a functional organization structure
- Knowledge of renewable energy project offtake and financing structures
- Knowledge of national and regional regulatory environment
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences of varying technical and business expertise
- Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, MS Project, and Outlook
- Familiarity with Tableau
- Strong organizational, interpersonal communication, leadership, and management skills
- Ability to collaborate with geographically dispersed, cross-functional team members
- Adaptability to changing market conditions and shifting business priorities
- Proficiency in English and French, spoken and written
- Ability to sit, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, and visit job sites
Demonstrates extensive knowledge of the renewables EPC market and engineering principles necessary for constructing renewable energy plants, with strong negotiation skills and the ability to effectively communicate across diverse audiences. Proficient in managing strategic relationships with EPC contractors and supporting project acquisition, permitting, and construction processes.
