Summary:
Qualcomm Power Delivery Team is seeking an experienced Voltage Regulator (VR) Architect to define and drive next-generation power delivery solutions for AI, HPC, mobile, automotive, and data center platforms. The ideal candidate will be a recognized expert in power electronics, analog and mixed-signal circuit design, voltage regulator architectures, and power conversion efficiency optimization, with experience spanning system, package, silicon, and integrated voltage regulator (IVR) technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Define voltage regulator and power delivery architectures for future-generation products, from 48V/12V input rails to sub-1V silicon loads.
- Lead architecture, design, and evaluation of advanced power conversion solutions, including multiphase buck converters, PMICs, IVRs, switched-capacitor converters, and distributed power architectures.
- Drive system-level optimization of power efficiency, transient response, power density, thermal performance, reliability, and total cost.
- Develop and evaluate analog control architectures, compensation schemes, feedback loops, and stability methodologies for high-current voltage regulators.
- Collaborate closely with silicon, package, board, PDN, thermal, and system architects to co-optimize end-to-end power delivery solutions.
- Lead technology assessments and roadmaps for emerging power delivery technologies, including on-chip and near-die voltage regulation.
- Interface directly with foundries to enable integrated voltage regulator solutions, defining process requirements, device utilization strategies, reliability criteria, and technology roadmaps.
- Drive co-optimization of process technology, silicon implementation, package integration, and PDN architecture for next-generation power delivery systems.
- Partner with external vendors and ecosystem partners to influence future regulator technologies and product roadmaps.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Power Electronics, Analog IC Design, Power Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in voltage regulator, PMIC, power management, or power delivery architecture.
- Deep expertise in:
- Power Electronics
- Analog and Mixed-Signal Circuit Design
- Control Theory and Loop Compensation
- DC-DC Converter Design
- Multiphase Voltage Regulators
- Integrated Voltage Regulators (IVRs)
- Power Delivery Networks (PDNs)
- Power Integrity and Transient Analysis
- Efficiency Optimization
- Experience with AI, HPC, GPU, CPU, or data-center power delivery systems supporting hundreds to thousands of amps.
- Direct experience implementing on-chip or near-die IVRs.
- Experience working with leading foundries such as TSMC, Samsung, or Intel Foundry.
- Knowledge of advanced CMOS, FinFET, GAA, backside power delivery, and advanced packaging technologies.
- Experience with package-board-silicon co-design and System Technology Co-Optimization (STCO).
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of System/Package Design/Technology Engineering or related work experience.
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 9+ years of System/Package Design/Technology Engineering or related work experience.
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 8+ year of System/Package Design/Technology Engineering or related work experience.
