Mechanical Engineer

Location: San Diego, CA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site

A hardware technology company building autonomous drone systems and field-deployable ground infrastructure is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its hardware development team. This role owns the full lifecycle of physical hardware — from concept through manufacture — across enclosures, packaging, and drone integration products, with a focus on ruggedized electronic enclosures central to the company's ground station and communications infrastructure.

• Design and oversee manufacture of ruggedized electronic enclosures for ground station and communications hardware
• Specify, source, and customize swarm packaging solutions, including rugged transport cases and precision-cut foam inserts, to protect vehicles and ground equipment during transport and deployment
• Design, test, and manufacture drone attachments and physical modifications, ranging from simple mounting brackets to complex multi-axis actuated mechanisms
• Develop mechanisms supporting self-contained, rapidly deployable systems with integrated logistics, charging, and launch capability
• Collaborate with the engineering team on mechanism design, prototyping, and field validation
• Leverage in-house 3D printing for rapid prototyping and iteration of field-testable designs
• Participate in field testing and demonstration travel to observe hardware performance in live multi-drone operations

• Experience designing and building physical hardware from concept through manufacture

• Ability to travel for field testing and demonstrations
• Ability to work on-site in San Diego, CA
