Overview   Our client, a large and complex public technology organization, is seeking a Director of Revenue to lead the end-to-end revenue lifecycle for a high-growth small and mid-market business segment. This role reports to senior finance leadership and owns revenue accounting, revenue operations, and global credit and collections across a multi-billion-dollar transaction environment.
This leader will play a critical role in ensuring revenue accuracy, compliance, scalability, and operational excellence while supporting continued expansion into more complex enterprise-style contracts.
Role Summary   The Director will oversee revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP and ASC 606, lead transformation and automation initiatives across the revenue lifecycle, and partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders including FP&A, Sales, Product, Marketing, Legal, and Technology. The role requires strong technical depth, systems fluency, business acumen, and the ability to lead and scale high-performing teams.
Responsibilities   
• Lead global revenue accounting operations with full ownership of revenue close, reporting, and compliance

• Serve as the technical authority on revenue recognition, including ASC 606 and related guidance

• Ensure accurate, timely revenue reporting for a large accelerated filer under U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements

• Provide guidance on accounting implications for new products, pricing models, partnerships, and go-to-market strategies

• Maintain a strong SOX-compliant control environment

• Partner with Accounting, Tax, Finance, Sales, Product, and Legal to support growth while managing risk

• Own and optimize the end-to-end revenue process from contract execution through cash collection

• Design scalable processes to support increasing enterprise and mid-market complexity

• Drive automation and system enhancements across billing, invoicing, and revenue reporting

• Partner with technology and product teams to influence system roadmaps and monetization solutions

• Establish metrics and governance to ensure data integrity and operational effectiveness

• Oversee global credit and collections with a focus on cash flow optimization and customer experience

• Develop credit policies and risk frameworks aligned with growth objectives

• Monitor DSO, aging, and collections performance and drive continuous improvement

• Partner with Sales and Customer Success to resolve disputes and improve billing outcomes
Qualifications   
• 12+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting or controllership

• 10+ years in people leadership roles

• Prior Manager or Senior Manager experience in public accounting

• Proven experience leading revenue accounting in a public, global SaaS or enterprise software environment

• Deep expertise in ASC 606 and complex revenue arrangements

• Experience overseeing credit and collections functions

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

• CPA or equivalent strongly preferred

• Strong experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP

• Familiarity with billing platforms and revenue recognition tools

• Advanced Excel and data analytics capabilities

• Experience partnering with technology teams on billing and monetization initiatives

• Proven ability to build, lead, and scale high-performing teams

• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence cross-functionally

• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and leading through change

• Demonstrated track record of process improvement, automation, and operational transformation

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical accounting concepts for non-finance stakeholders
