The Product Control Manager is a high-impact role within Our Client’s Retail organization, responsible for strengthening and enhancing the financial control and risk management framework supporting the retail energy business. Reporting to the Vice President of Risk – Solutions, this position sits at the intersection of risk, commercial operations, and accounting to ensure exposures, margins, and performance are accurately measured, reconciled, and communicated.

This role partners closely with Retail leadership, Front Office, Risk, Accounting, Settlements, and FP&A to improve transparency, auditability, and operational efficiency across the business. The Product Control Manager will lead initiatives related to energy margin reporting, non-energy product reconciliation, valuation processes, and control enhancements in a fast-paced public-company environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Retail product control framework, including margin, inventory, and obligation reporting.
  • Manage unrealized-to-realized margin reconciliations across commodity products.
  • Monitor market trends, forward curves, and pricing inputs to support accurate valuations.
  • Serve as a key control point between Front Office activity and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate cross-functional margin close and reconciliation processes.
  • Manage reconciliation and reporting for non-energy products including RECs, Capacity, and Resource Adequacy.
  • Prepare financial and operational reporting for senior leadership, highlighting risks, trends, and performance drivers.
  • Lead initiatives to improve controls, data quality, reporting processes, and system functionality.
  • Enhance audit readiness and strengthen control frameworks in support of public-company requirements.
  • Support cross-functional projects impacting systems, reporting, and operational decision-making.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related quantitative field.
  • CPA, MBA, or other advanced certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in product control, risk management, or finance within energy trading or retail energy.
  • Strong understanding of commodity markets, valuation concepts, and financial controls.
  • Experience partnering with trading, risk, and commercial teams.
  • Prior leadership experience or readiness to lead a team.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with ETRM systems, Excel, and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
