San Diego CA (Hybrid) Pay Range: $40/hr -$42/hr

JOB SUMMARY:

Join Tax Analyst Programmer and play a key role in developing tax content that powers industry‑leading tax software. In this role, you will analyze federal and state tax laws, translate tax legislation into software requirements, validate tax scenarios, and ensure compliance with government regulations. You’ll collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Quality, and Tax teams to deliver accurate, high‑quality tax solutions that provide an exceptional customer experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze federal and state tax laws and translate them into detailed business and software requirements.
  • Develop tax business rules and validate tax calculations for compliance and accuracy.
  • Research tax law changes and assess customer impact and compliance risks.
  • Create tax scenarios, test cases, and execute validation testing.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and QA teams to implement tax law updates.
  • Document tax code requirements, forms, calculations, and diagnostic messaging.
  • Interact with customers and government agencies to support tax research and compliance.
  • Report defects, analyze quality metrics, and support test automation initiatives.
  • Drive continuous process improvements and participate in tax research projects.
Must‑Have

Skills:
  • 3–7 years of income tax preparation or tax analysis experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State income tax regulations.
  • Hands‑on experience with tax preparation software (Turbo Tax, Pro Series, Lacerte, Drake, Ultra Tax, etc.).
  • Strong business analysis and problem‑solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet proficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related business field.
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification preferred.
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, MIS, or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience working with tax software development, software testing, or tax compliance projects.
  • Knowledge of Individual, Business, Non‑Profit, Estate, and Trust taxation.
