Sr. Finance Manager - St. Paul MN or San Diego, CA

Johnson Service Group, a nationally award-winning staffing firm, has an immediate opportunity for a Sr. Finance Manager for a Preclinical Drug Discovery CRO client. Employee can reside in St. Paul, MN or San Diego, CA. Direct Hire | Hybrid | The salary range is between $140K - $160K.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to lead financial planning, analysis, reporting, and business partnership activities supporting multiple U.S. operating units. This role will work closely with senior leadership and oversee budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, KPI reporting, commission modeling, and strategic financial analysis. The ideal candidate brings strong FP&A experience, demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights.

• Serve as a strategic finance partner to business and operational leadership
• Lead monthly and quarterly forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning
• Prepare monthly financial results, variance analysis, KPI reporting, and cost-saving analysis
• Partner with sales leadership on commission modeling and calculations
• Prepare financial analysis and reporting for executive leadership
• Manage, coach, and develop finance team members
• Evaluate capital investments and ROI
• Develop cost, benefit, bonus, and salary models
• Oversee financial data integrity and reporting through Power BI and other reporting tools
• Partner with Accounting and IT on master data, reporting, and system improvements
• Drive greater use of AI, automation, and technology within financial reporting and analysis
• Develop automated reporting and variance-analysis processes
• Support additional financial analysis and projects as needed

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA, CPA, or CMA a plus
• Progressive finance experience, including a minimum of 2+ years managing or mentoring staff
• Strong FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling experience
• Experience presenting financial results to senior management
• Experience with ERP systems such as Great Plains, JDE, SAP S/4, or similar
• Experience with financial reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI, Luca Net, or Qlik View
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Exposure to AI and financial automation tools preferred
• Life sciences, CRO, or pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus
• Mandarin language skills are a plus
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
• Occasional travel may be required
