State Government Affairs Director- Texas

About The Role

• Leads public-facing advocacy efforts on state legislative and related issues.
• Develops and executes regional state government affairs strategy aligned with Government Affairs strategy, business priorities, and long-term objectives.
• Serves as a strategic advisor to senior leaders by translating legislative/regulatory developments into business implications and recommended actions.
• Influences development and implementation of relevant corporate policy through partnerships with government, industry, and external stakeholders.
• State lobbying role covering Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Delaware (subject to change).

Candidates With Significant Relevant Lobbying Experience In Texas Preferred.

• Develops and leads regional state government affairs strategies and activities.
• Leads cross-functional collaboration to assess legislative/regulatory developments and ensure timely internal communications.
• Directs and manages external lobbyists and consultants (objectives, alignment, effectiveness).
• Represents the company with elected officials, third parties, trade associations, and regulatory authorities.
• Builds and maintains relationships with key state agencies, elected officials, policymakers, and stakeholders.
• Leads/coordinating responses to state regulatory inquiries; develops comment letters.
• Ensures lobbying and campaign contributions comply with applicable laws/rules.
• Analyzes complex state legislative/regulatory developments and provides concise business impact/risk/recommendations.
• Provides policy thought leadership; develops briefings, testimony, and other materials.
• Recommends company participation in government forums/industry groups.
• Influences public policy to advance company objectives (other duties as assigned).

• BS/BA in Business, Political Science, Public Policy, or related field; 12+ years relevant government affairs/public policy/legislative experience.
• Extensive knowledge of state legislative, regulatory, and political processes; ability to identify emerging issues and develop effective strategies.
• Significant direct state government affairs experience (Texas strongly preferred); ability to analyze complex legislation/regulations and communicate clearly to senior leaders.
• Ability to influence policymakers, stakeholders, and internal leaders on complex/sensitive matters.
• Strong strategic thinking, judgment, communication, relationship management, and influencing skills; ability to operate independently.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage external lobbyists/consultants/advocacy partners (without direct people-management responsibility).

• Annual base salary: $–$.
• Annual bonus target: 35% of earned base salary; eligibility for equity-based long-term incentive.
