Position Summary
The Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a key role in advancing the company’s environmental, health, and safety programs. This position is responsible for developing, improving, and implementing EHS systems, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and driving a proactive safety culture across all Crinetics facilities.
The Senior Specialist providestechnicalexpertise, mentors team members, leads risk assessments, manages incident investigations, and partners with cross-functional teams—including Facilities, Lab Operations, and R&D—to strengthen Crinetics’ safety performance and regulatory readiness.
This role is essential in supporting the organization’s growth and ensuring a world-class EHS framework aligned with Crinetics’ mission and operational needs.
Essential Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesThese may include but are not limited to:
- Lead compliance with
OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local environmental regulations.
- Manage and improve internal EHS auditing programs; lead preparation and execution ofthird‑party and regulatory inspections.
- Develop and maintain EHS policies, SOPs, and compliance reporting.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on EHS programs including hazardous materials, waste management, ergonomics, and emergency response.
- Own the lifecycle of EHS training programs: development, delivery, tracking, and effectiveness evaluation.
- Lead Safety Committee, Emergency Response Team, Spill Response, and First Responder program activities.
- Lead comprehensive risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and mitigation plan development.
- Oversee incident response activities, lead incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) implementation.
- Evaluate new equipment, materials, and processes for safety and environmental impact.
- Ensure compliance with hazardous waste storage, labeling, handling, and transportation requirements.
- Lead chemical inventory management, SDS reviews, and environmental reporting.
- Support sustainability and ESG initiatives focused on waste reduction, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
- Partner with Facilities and Lab Operations on:
- Safe lab configuration and operational readiness
- Emergency action planning
- New construction or renovation EHS reviews
- Incident drills and response protocol testing
- Influence cross-functional engagement and promote a strong safety culture.
- Serve as an EHS representative for internal stakeholder meetings and project teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in EH&S roles, in biotech or laboratory environments only.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and Cal/OSHA regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessments, audits, hazardous waste management, and incident investigations.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with EHS platforms, reporting systems, and MS Office.
On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Biology and chemical laboratory environment experience needed. Environmental health and safety requirements also apply.

SalaryRange
The salary range for this position is: $99,000 - $124,000.
