Position DescriptionThe Department of Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. We seek candidates to join our renowned team, dedicated to cutting‑edge basic and clinical research in neurological diseases, spinal cord injuries, brain tumors/defects, and interdisciplinary collaborations. Opportunities include teaching, mentorship, patient care, and scholarly activities at a top‑ranked medical school.
The selected candidates will have the opportunity to develop funded research programs, lead research initiatives, and collaborate with a multifaceted group of scientists and clinicians, including those within NIH-funded centers. In addition, the selected candidates will be responsible for delivering high-quality training and teaching, while engaging in basic or translational research and/or clinical care of patients.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Appointments may require candidates to be self‑funded.
Qualifications Basic qualificationsCandidates must have a PhD in Neurosciences, Neurology, or related fields, and/or an MD or equivalent degree.
Candidates with an MD or equivalent degree with clinical duties must have completed Neurology or a similarly related training program and be Board eligible or certified in Neurology or a related field.
Candidates with an MD or equivalent degree with clinical duties must either hold or be eligible for a California medical license, or an equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Preferred QualificationsCandidates with at least one year of experience in fields such as Neurobiology, Epidemiology, Neuroimaging, Neuropathology, Biomarkers, or Behavioral Neurology/Cognitive Neurosciences related to Neurological Disorders, or other related fields, are preferred.
