Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $25.150 - $28.950 - $32.420
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
WhatYou Will Do
Represents Sharp Rees-Stealy by providing patients with appointments, information and other operational support services for assigned department. Provides a high level of customer service in a manner consistent with our Mission and Goals. Responsible for patient registration, demographic and insurance updates. Confirms insurance eligibility and obtains authorizations for service. Works with patients to resolve billing and insurance related issues.
Required Qualifications- 1 Year customer service experience.
- H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of a medical receptionist or equivalent training program.
- Medical or hospital setting experience.

- Communication
- Responds to all calls promptly and greets by name and department.
- Asks before placing a caller on hold and follows up with alternatives as needed.
- Uses a pleasant voice and provides helpful, knowledgeable service.
- Maintains clear, correct messages using appropriate medical terminology.
- Delivers transfers and message documentation per guidelines.
- Returns messages according to established guidelines and refers calls appropriately.
- Department Operations
- Provides accurate information to customers and maintains office support activities.
- Prepares and monitors schedules, labels and reports per department guidelines.
- Offers information about patient services (e.g., shuttle, nurse connection, classes) and assists with forms and directions.
- Maintains supplies and notifies supervisor of repairs or maintenance needs.
- Knowledgeable on emergency procedures and monitors the waiting area for medical occurrences.
- Follows cash receipt policies, balances cash drawer, and prepares daily deposits.
- Is knowledgeable on patient accounts and billing information.
- Financial Responsibilities
- Assumes accountability for the organization’s financial success while delivering high-quality care and service.
- Demonstrates flexibility and supports cost containment and authorization guidelines.
- Takes initiative, prioritizes, and adapts to unscheduled situations.
- Communicates with others to complete tasks; supports department goals and patient flow.
- Balances and secures cash drawer and prepares deposits with accuracy.
- Knowledgeable on patient accounts and billing information; may perform mini-registration and verify insurance eligibility.
- Scheduling
- Schedules appointments according to provider guidelines and updates patient information and site location.
- Confirms future appointments and handles additional scheduling as identified by site.
- Proficient keyboarding and typing accuracy; preferred speed and accuracy measures apply.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
