HR Generalist – West/Southwest Region
Location:
US Remote – West/Southwest Region (Including California)
Compensation: $75K - $80K
Reports to:
HR Business Partner – West/Southwest Region

Required:
1–3 years of HR experience in multi-location or hourly environments.
The HR Generalist – West/Southwest Region provides day-to-day human resources support to assigned store locations, including locations in California. This role partners closely with the HR Business Partner to ensure consistent application of HR policies, timely resolution of employee concerns, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, with an emphasis on California labor requirements. The HR Generalist acts as the primary HR contact for store team members, building strong relationships in the field while managing core HR processes such as unemployment claims, payroll and timecard reviews, level-one employee relations investigations, and employee inquiries.
This position supports operational execution while developing the skills and experience required for progression into a full HR Business Partner role.
- Serve as a first-line HR contact for store team members and managers, including California locations.
- Conduct level-one employee relations investigations and elevate complex matters.
- Support corrective action documentation.
- Build relationships through regular communication and site visits.
- Manage unemployment claims, including California claims.
- Apply working knowledge of California labor laws (wage and hour, meal/rest periods).
- Support audits and compliance reviews.
- Review timecards with attention to California compliance.
- Assist with payroll forms and inquiries, including processing promotions and other employment-related changes.
- Support timekeeping corrections.
- Support onboarding/offboarding including California documentation.
- Assist with reporting and follow-up.
- Participate in store visits.
- Support engagement and training initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professional handling of sensitive information.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of federal and California employment laws.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
- 1–3 years of HR experience in multi-location or hourly environments.
- Experience with ER, unemployment, payroll or timekeeping support preferred.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or CA HR certification a plus.
Regular travel to assigned store locations within the West/Southwest Region, including California, with occasional overnight travel.
