Position: Junior CMS Web Developer (Contract)

Overview

Welcome aboard VSSL. It’s pronounced “vessel”, but we’re more than a ship—we’re a fast, agile digital agency of brand builders, campaign makers, website creators, and more. Our mission is to set the course for our clients, creating bold digital marketing experiences that propel brands to success. Our crew brings strategy, spirit, and loyalty to the challenge of helping clients stand out in today’s aggressive, crowded, and fast-changing digital world.

And that’s exactly what we’re looking for in our next crew member.

We are looking for a Technical Implementation Specialist to join our crew on a contract basis. This is a junior-to-mid-level role for someone who is technically savvy, obsessed with the details, and loves "under the hood" configuration. You aren’t just a coder; you’re the person who ensures the digital engine is tuned, the pipes are connected, and everything works exactly as it should.

What

the Technical Implementation Specialist Does

As a contractor, your focus is on precision and execution. You will support our tech and account teams by managing the technical backbone of our marketing efforts.

  • Word Press Management: Handle site updates, plugin configurations, page builds, and troubleshooting. You’ll ensure the CMS is clean, functional, and performing at its peak.
  • Hub Spot Configuration: Update website content, build landing pages, and manage forms. While you won t be building complex backend workflows, you will be responsible for ensuring the front-end experience is perfect.
  • AI-Forward
    :
You are comfortable using AI tools (Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, or Hub Spot AI) to expedite content production, troubleshoot code, and improve efficiency—but you have the critical eye to verify and "humanize" everything the AI produces.
  • Technical Bridge-Building: You’ll be the "glue" between design and launch, ensuring that tracking scripts, integrations, and third-party tools are configured properly.
  • Light Coding: While this isn t a "Full Stack" role, you should be comfortable with HTML/CSS and basic JavaScript to tweak layouts or fix styling issues on the fly.
  • Quality Assurance: You are the final line of defense. You’ll test links, forms, and responsive views to ensure a flawless user experience before anything goes live.
What You Will Need

We are looking for someone with high technical aptitude who is eager to master the VSSL workflow.

  • Platform Proficiency: Practical experience managing Word Press (back-end and front-end) and Hub Spot (website, landing pages, and emails).
  • The

    Languages:

Comfort with HTML and CSS is a must. A basic understanding of JavaScript or PHP (for Word Press) is a major plus.
  • Attention to Detail: You’re the type of person who notices a 1px misalignment or a broken redirect from a mile away.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: You don t get frustrated when a plugin breaks; you enjoy the "detective work" of finding out why.
  • Proactive Communication: You keep the team updated on progress and flag potential technical roadblocks before they become "emergencies."
  • Source Control & IDEs: Familiarity with Git/Git Hub for version control and VS Code (or similar IDEs) for maintaining a clean, professional development workflow.
We are One Crew

The strongest crew is one that works (and celebrates) together. That’s because none of us is as smart as all of us. Through everything, we always have each others’ backs.

Communication is Our Compass

Clear communication is our guide. We’re open with our thoughts and open-minded towards others. We’re always respectful—but we don’t sugarcoat s
** t.

Quality is our Course

Our people and our work are our greatest assets. That’s why we don’t compromise when it comes to our crew, our clients, and our work. We deliver the best—every damn time.

All Hands on Deck

We know how to solve problems together by staying focused on creative solutions. We aren’t fazed by challenges or risk-taking. In fact, that’s where we thrive.

Up Spirits!

We’re a tight-knit group—we celebrate our wins and have fun along the way. Each crew member contributes to our collective success. “Up Spirits!” is our rally cry when the grog starts flowing.

Benefits
  • Compensation: $45-70/hour, depending on experience.
  • Environment: A dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative atmosphere where your expertise is valued and your work has immediate, measurable impact.

VSSL strongly promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion. We provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
