ServiceNow Developer - entry​/mid level

I am seeking to fill a Service Now Developer position for my client. This role is entry to mid-level and will sit onsite hybrid schedule in San Diego. We are seeking an entry-level Service Now Developer who is eager to learn and grow within the Service Now platform, with a particular focus on integrations and platform development. This role will support the design, development, and maintenance of Service Now solutions under the guidance of senior developers and architects. The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of Service Now, strong technical curiosity, and a desire to build scalable, secure solutions in an enterprise environment.

• Assist in the development and maintenance of integrations between Service Now and other enterprise systems using Integration Hub, Flow Designer, REST/SOAP APIs, and MID Servers.
• Support existing integrations by monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing fixes under guidance.
• Participate in integration testing and validation to ensure data accuracy and reliability.

• Develop and enhance basic Service Now components such as Script Includes, Business Rules, Transform Maps, Import Sets, and Flows.
• Support platform upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance activities.
• Follow established development standards, best practices, and security guidelines.

• Work closely with senior developers, architects, and cross-functional teams (ITSM, HRIS, ITOM, Security, and vendors) to understand functional and technical requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions to build technical skills and platform knowledge.
• Learn and apply Service Now best practices for API usage, authentication, and data handling.

• 2+ years of experience working with Service Now or similar enterprise platforms (internships, academic projects, or hands‑on labs acceptable).
• Foundational knowledge of Service Now development concepts, including scripting and platform configuration.
• Basic understanding of REST APIs, web services, and data integrations.
• Familiarity with JavaScript or willingness to learn Service Now scripting and Glide APIs.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification required or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe.

• Exposure to Integration Hub, Flow Designer, or MID Servers.
• Basic familiarity with ITSM processes (Incident, Change, Problem, Request).
• Introductory experience with CMDB, Discovery, or asset/lifecycle management.
• Awareness of Dev Ops concepts such as source control (Git) or automated testing.
• Interest in emerging Service Now capabilities such as Virtual Agent, AI Search, or Now Assist.

• Strong desire to learn and grow technical skills.
• Good communication skills with the ability to ask questions and seek feedback.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks with guidance.
• Positive attitude and openness to mentorship and coaching.
