San Diego, CA, Hybrid. This position allows a hybrid work structure, under which an employee can work remotely for up to 2 days per week, between Tuesday and Thursday, after completing a probationary period and based on demands of specific tasks. Working from the office is encouraged for some tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.
Job OverviewGALT Aerospace is looking for a full-time, salaried Senior Dev Sec Ops Platform Engineer, who will play a key role in building, maintaining, and securing development and Dev Sec Ops infrastructure across multiple aerospace projects. This position supports the growing needs of our development environment, ensuring system reliability, automation, and compliance as programs expand and CMMC accreditation progresses. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in Linux system administration, virtualization, automation, and CI/CD and software best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux and VMware ESXi environments supporting development and Dev Sec Ops pipelines
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and other automation tools to improve software build, test, and deployment efficiency
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and compliance using Ansible and Terraform
- Support QCOW2/QEMU image creation and management for virtualized test environments
- Develop and maintain Bash and Python scripts to streamline administrative and build processes
- Apply and validate STIG and security hardening requirements across development and test environments
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance across virtualized and on-premises infrastructureli>
- Collaborate with software development teams to ensure consistent, secure, and reliable Dev Sec Ops practices
- Contribute to documentation, process improvement, and infrastructure-as-code initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field
- 7+ years of experience in Dev Sec Ops , system administration, or software infrastructure/automation roles
- Expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware ESXi, and vSphere administration
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Terraform
- Strong scripting skills in Bash; working knowledge of Python
- Experience managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Git-based workflows
- Familiarity with STIG compliance, system hardening, and security best practices
- Understanding of QCOW2, QEMU, or other virtualization technologies
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance
- Experience with CMMC, DoD, or other compliance frameworks
- Certifications such as Red Certified Engineer (RHCE), VMware VCP, or Terraform/Ansible certification
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Podman) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of network architecture, firewalls, and system monitoring tools
- Active DoD security clearance
- Must be able to sit or stand for 1 hour at a time
- Must be able to operate a computer
At GALT Aerospace, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as one grows and develops within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $165,000 - $190,000 and a specific candidate's base pay will depend on their skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
