Position Overview
The position is a specialized technical support role providing design, installation, and maintenance of computer hardware and software in Local Area Networks (LAN), peripheral sharing devices, and Wide Area Networks (WAN). The role reports to an assigned supervisor.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze network data to determine network usage, disk space availability, or server function.
- Configure security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals.
- Configure WAN or LAN routers or related equipment.
- Evaluate LAN or WAN performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, identify network problems, or support disaster recovery.
- Identify causes of networking problems using diagnostic testing software and equipment.
- Install and configure wireless networking equipment.
- Install network software, including security or firewall software.
- Install new hardware or software systems or components.
- Provide software training and technical assistance.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
Applicants should have knowledge of microcomputers, minicomputers, LAN topology, protocols, specifications, and safety regulations involving computers and electrical equipment. Experience in the field of computer science is required. Network Engineer Certification (NEC) is preferred.

Conditions of EmploymentSelected candidates are required to provide the following before employment:
- A Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years).
