The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills, an eye for clarity and usability, and hands‑on experience in observability tools.

Key Responsibilities Visualization Engineering & Dashboard Development
  • Design, build, and maintain high-impact dashboards, notebooks, and visual analytics in Datadog.
  • Establish visualization standards, templates, and best practices to drive consistency across teams.
  • Create user-friendly visualizations that communicate trends, anomalies, KPIs, SLIs/SLOs, and operational insights.
  • Collaborate with engineering, SRE, Dev Ops, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and convert them into clear visual outputs.
  • Lead or support the migration of dashboards, alerts, saved searches, and visualizations from Splunk to Datadog.
  • Analyze existing Splunk usage patterns and redesign them using Datadog’s native visual capabilities.
  • Translate complex Splunk queries into Datadog metrics, logs queries, and monitor configurations.
  • Ensure dashboards maintain accuracy, performance, and usability after migration.
  • Partner with platform teams to optimize data pipelines, tagging, and data structures to support effective visualization.
Data Engineering for Observability
  • Work with logs, metrics, and traces to standardize data for use in Datadog visualizations.
  • Validate data quality and troubleshoot gaps or inconsistencies in telemetry sources.
  • Optimize data ingestion and tagging strategies to support scalable visualization.
  • Document best practices and create training materials for teams adopting Datadog dashboards.
  • Host workshops or office hours to help teams understand and build their own visualizations.
  • Provide feedback to platform engineering teams on Datadog performance and visualization needs.
Required Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of experience in data visualization, analytics engineering, or observability tooling.
  • Hands-on experience with Datadog dashboards, monitors, notebooks, metrics, logs, and APM.
  • Strong experience building dashboards and searches in Splunk (queries, panels, saved searches).
  • Demonstrated experience converting Splunk visualizations to Datadog equivalents.
  • Strong understanding of logs, metrics, traces, and telemetry data structures.
  • Proficiency with SQL and at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.).
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with SRE and observability concepts (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets).
  • Experience with Terraform or IaC for managing Datadog resources.
  • UI/UX sensibilities for layout, color usage, clarity, and information hierarchy.
  • Experience with analytics tools (Tableau, Grafana, Looker, PowerBI) is a plus.
Soft Skills
  • Strong communication and visualization storytelling skills.
  • Ability to balance technical accuracy with visual clarity.
  • Comfortable gathering requirements from both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and quality-focused.
