Information System Security Officer (ISSO) – San Diego, CA

Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced cybersecurity professional to serve as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) within the RMS classified cybersecurity group. The position supports the Common Submarine Radio Room (CSRR) program and other Department of Defense (DoD) initiatives.

• Manage the full Authorization to Operate (ATO) lifecycle and enforce cybersecurity requirements on assigned information systems.
• Implement mandatory information system security tasks in accordance with NISPOM, DoD 8500, NIST, CNSSI, DAAPM, and related DoD documents.
• Prepare and maintain System Security Plans, configuration management plans, and other security documentation to secure government approvals.
• Conduct weekly system audits, anti‑virus software management, and sanitize hardware components.
• Maintain user accounts, support inspections, and contribute to enterprise initiatives such as continuous monitoring and self‑inspection reviews.
• Participate in ongoing mandatory compliance activities, including vulnerability management with tools such as Tenable.sc, Trellix ePO, and Splunk.
• Assist in hardening operating systems to DISA STIG baselines and implementing ATO lifecycle via eMASS, Xacta, or similar technologies.

• Minimum 2 years of ISSO experience or a related Information Assurance discipline.
• Experience with Tenable.sc, Trellix ePO, Splunk, or comparable vulnerability management and compliance tools.
• Familiarity with NISPOM, DAAPM, and related security documentation.
• Current Secret clearance and IAT II Level certification (e.g., Comptia Security+).
• Proficient in information technology security principles, multiple operating systems, and Microsoft applications.

• Attention to detail and adherence to security policies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with system certification, auditing, and continuous monitoring.
• Experience hardening operating systems to DISA STIG baselines.
• Experience managing the ATO lifecycle using eMASS, Xacta, or other tools.
• Knowledge of COMSEC account management.
• Familiarity with Agile and Dev Sec Ops  concepts and toolsets (JIRA, Confluence, Docker, Ansible, Git, etc.).
• Understanding of NIST SP 800‑37 RMF and/or NIST SP 800‑53 controls.

This position requires a government security clearance. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and hold a current Secret clearance.
