Biotech Health Data Governance Lead (AI & Life Sciences)
What if your expertise in biotech data governance could directly shape how AI understands clinical research, regulatory submissions, and scientific discovery? We're looking for a Biotech Health Data Governance Lead to ensure that the research and clinical trial data powering next-generation AI models is accurate, traceable, compliant, and trustworthy.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role for an experienced professional who knows how to navigate the complex intersection of life sciences, data policy, and regulatory compliance.

- Lead governance of biotech research and clinical trial data — ensuring accuracy, full data lineage, and auditability for scientific analysis and regulatory submissions
- Define, implement, and enforce data policies covering classification, access controls, security standards, and metadata management across research, clinical, regulatory, and partner teams
- Enable secure, governed data access for analytics, AI development, and external collaborations — while rigorously protecting confidential and patient-related information
- Partner with scientific, IT, compliance, and business stakeholders to align data standards, workflows, and governance frameworks
- Identify and close gaps in data quality and compliance posture across the research data lifecycle
- Support regulatory readiness by ensuring data assets meet the traceability and documentation requirements of regulatory bodies
- Experienced in leading or implementing data governance programs within biotech, life sciences, clinical research, or other regulated data environments
- Deeply familiar with data privacy, security, and compliance requirements specific to research and clinical trial data
- Skilled at translating complex regulatory and governance requirements into practical, workable policies
- A natural collaborator who can align cross-functional teams — scientists, IT professionals, compliance officers, and business partners — around shared data standards
- Detail-oriented, systematic, and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a remote environment
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI training data systems
- Familiarity with frameworks such as FAIR data principles, 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR, HIPAA, or ICH E6 Good Clinical Practice
- Experience working with structured and unstructured clinical or scientific datasets
- Background in regulatory affairs, clinical data management, or research informatics
- Work at the intersection of life sciences and cutting-edge AI — your governance work directly enables better science and smarter models
- Fully remote and flexible — structure your hours around your life, not the other way around
- Freelance autonomy with the substance of genuinely impactful, high-stakes work
- Collaborate with world-leading AI research teams and life sciences organizations on projects that matter
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
