THE POSITION
Under direction of the Computer Field Services Supervisor, provides technical support in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of computer systems (hardware and software), peripherals, telecommunication equipment (intercom and phone), low voltage systems (bells and clocks), fire/video/security systems, and networks at various sites; provides informal training to the users in the proper operation and maintenance of computers and related equipment.
CURRENT OPENINGFour 12 month/40 hours per week positions. Salary placement will be on Range 32 of the CSEA Salary Schedule. Initial salary placement for new employees is customarily at step 1 ($32.35 per hour) of this salary range.

- Troubleshoots hardware and software problems identified by users and advises users of corrective measures over the telephone, in person, or via email.
- Demonstrates and assists users in the operation and maintenance of office equipment and systems.
- Estimates materials, labor, equipment and time required for daily computer support activities.
- Inspects, troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs computers and other peripheral devices.
- Installs, supports, and maintains District owned computers, laptops, mobile devices and related equipment for staff, faculty, students and other users.
- Installs and maintains office, school and classroom technology.
- Installs, maintains, and upgrades various software on computers for staff, faculty, and students.
- Picks up, delivers, and moves equipment.
- Performs equipment tests using specialized equipment and a variety of data communications and network diagnostic computer programs to determine defects and malfunctions.
- Orders and stores parts and supplies.
- Makes recommendations to administrators and management regarding technology purchases.
- Maintains and repairs fire/video/security systems, intercom systems, radio, networks, PA sound equipment, telephone equipment, point of sale devices and related audio/visual equipment.
- Installs and replaces cables necessary for computer systems and networks throughout the District.
- Assists with the maintenance and support of the network, including LAN, WAN, and other related network devices.
- Assists in data migration and backup.
- Conducts imaging and re-imaging of computers in accordance with District standards, policies and procedures.
- Composes technical and non-technical materials (e.g. reports, memos, procedures, etc.) to document activities and provide written reference.
- Retrieves and completes documents from automated repair order and provide updates as necessary.
- Maintains a variety of records related to computer repairs, purchases and inventory.
- Maintains confidentiality of all data on computers.
- Attends and participates in meetings, conferences and trainings related to computer technology.
- Drives a vehicle to various District sites to conduct work.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
