Position:
Network Engineer
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of specialized technical support in the design, installation, and maintenance of computer hardware and software for Local Area Networks (LAN), peripheral sharing devices, and Wide Area Networks (WAN) including associated security and connectivity solutions.
Major Responsibilities- Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of microcomputers, microcomputer laboratories, minicomputers and the computer science field; LAN topology, protocol, and specifications; safety regulations involving computers and electrical equipment; experience in the field of computer science;
Network Engineer Certification (NEC) preferred.
- Analyze network data to determine network usage, disk space availability, or server function.
- Configure security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals.
- Configure WAN or LAN routers or related equipment.
- Evaluate LAN or WAN performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, to identify network problems, or for disaster recovery purposes.
- Identify the causes of networking problems, using diagnostic testing software and equipment.
- Install and configure wireless networking equipment.
- Install network software, including security or firewall software.
- Install new hardware or software systems or components.
- Provide software training and technical assistance.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment).
- Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district’s expense (clearance must be received prior to first day of employment).
- Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Varies upon assignment.
