Position Summary
San Diego State University is looking for an analytical and collaborative Business Systems Analyst II to support business systems and technology solutions within the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity. In this role, you’ll analyze business processes, support the use of enterprise information systems such as Student, Finance, HR, and collaborate with campus partners to improve operational effectiveness, strengthen data integrity, and enhance services that support the student experience.
Working closely with divisional stakeholders and campus technology teams, you’ll help translate business needs into technology solutions that drive continuous improvement.
- Business Systems Analysis & Process Improvement
- Analyze business processes, gather and document functional requirements, and recommend technology solutions that improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and Enterprise Systems to identify system enhancements, develop use cases, and support business process improvement initiatives.
- Document workflows, business process requirements, technical specifications, and system processes to support implementation and ongoing operations.
- Participate in system testing, validate results, and assist with implementation activities for enterprise business systems.
- Data Management, Governance & Compliance
- Collect, analyze, and manage data from enterprise systems to support reporting, compliance, and operational decision-making.
- Develop and maintain data documentation, including data dictionaries, workflow diagrams, and system integration maps.
- Support data governance initiatives and help ensure compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, CSU, SDSU, and other applicable policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with IT Security and campus partners to promote secure, accurate, and reliable data management practices.

- Collaborate with division and campus partners to ensure technology solutions effectively support divisional and university goals.

- This is a full‑time (1.0 time‑base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027, with the possibility of reappointment.
- This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
