Network Program Coordinator - Department of Information Technology Unclassified

The Network Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the City’s enterprise network program. This position is instrumental in maintaining secure, resilient, and modern network services, which are essential for the seamless operation of City functions and furthering the objectives set forth in the City’s IT Strategic Plan.

Reporting directly to the Enterprise Network Manager, the Network Coordinator assists with daily network operations, ensuring that the City’s network infrastructure functions reliably and efficiently.

The Network Coordinator is responsible for coordinating technical projects and supporting improvements in policy and processes. These efforts are aimed at enhancing service delivery, strengthening business continuity, and promoting standardization across various City departments.

Acting as a key liaison, the Network Coordinator facilitates communication and coordination among City departments, engineering teams, and third‑party vendors. The position ensures that network‑related issues are escalated and resolved efficiently, thereby maintaining reliable and accessible network services throughout the organization.

The Network Coordinator ensures that all network activities are consistently aligned with the City’s strategic priorities, including innovation, security, transparency, operational value, and a citywide perspective.

• Assist with network operations and support.
• Develop, implement and maintain network policies, processes, and procedures.
• Manage Citywide and department‑specific network projects.
• Coordinate City departments, IT management, Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders to provide network services.
• Work with other IT groups and City departments to promote the enterprise network strategy as well as the supporting architecture, implementation, and security requirements.
• Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, life cycle management and related documentation.
• Review, conduct research, and make recommendations for improvements within the City’s network program.
• Regularly evaluate and stay abreast of the latest network technologies and principles
• Serve as an escalation point for network‑related issues, ensuring that complex, high‑impact, or unresolved problems are routed appropriately to engineering teams, vendors, or management.
• Monitor the network for performance, fault and security issues and respond accordingly.
• Support network infrastructure planning design and implementation activities.
• Oversee MACD, network equipment installation and configuration and other site provisioning services.
• Coordinate site surveys and work with customers to gather and translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Manage third party vendor(s) to properly deliver network services.
• Work both independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with tight time constraints.
• Respond to network issues or questions in a professional and timely manner.

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in network operations and support.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks, timelines, and stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment.
• Clear understanding of network infrastructure and services including firewall management, DMZ, network circuits, WAN/LAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN, monitoring, wiring and cabling, and wireless infrastructure.
• Knowledge of telecom infrastructure including network data circuits, digital communication systems, cabling and network topology.
