Midland Credit Management is seeking an experienced attorney to act as Corporate Counsel, serving as a legal partner to the business in the drafting and negotiation of various commercial contracts. The Corporate Counsel will provide legal support and advice to internal clients on a broad range of issues, including general corporate matters, risk management, data protection and privacy, and intellectual property.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment in complex situations, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate confidently and clearly with business clients.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, software licenses, data protection agreements, equipment leases and real estate property leases.

• Provide advice to the business on legal matters, including contract interpretation and enforcement, risk assessment, legal and regulatory compliance and corporate policies.

• Provide advice to the business on data privacy law matters.

• Assist with corporate governance matters.

• Assist with the creation and maintenance of policies and procedures for the legal department.

• Cooperate with outside counsel on various legal matters.

• Maintain current knowledge of the law in matters of interest to the company.

• Perform selected assignments and other responsibilities as assigned.

Education

JD degree from an accredited law school.

Language

Required:

English

Experience

• Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in at least one state bar is required.

• 3-6 years of experience as a corporate attorney handling commercial contracts (with at least two years at a law firm).

• Ability to review, understand, analyze, and interpret complex legal agreements.

• Contract drafting and negotiating experience required.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

• Excellent organizational and analytical skills required.
