Position Overview
The Supply Management Specialist supports the CNAF CVN Readiness Operations Center (ROC) by providing expert-level supply and material management support critical to aircraft carrier readiness across all phases of the Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP). This role ensures accurate tracking, expediting, and sustainment of material readiness in direct support of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers (CVNs), enabling data-driven logistics decisions that support mission capability, maintenance execution, and modernization efforts.
The position is focused on naval supply operations, logistics data accuracy, inventory control, and material status visibility, supporting CNAF’s goal of standardized, capabilities-based readiness reporting.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Supply Management Specialist shall perform duties including, but not limited to:
Supply & Material Readiness SupportTrack, monitor, and report supply readiness metrics in support of CVN readiness assessments.
Identify, research, process, expedite, and track material requisitions supporting Ship’s Force Work Packages (SFWP), TYCOM initiatives, and maintenance activities.
Support logistics readiness inputs to readiness reporting systems by ensuring accurate and timely material status information.
Assist in managing warehousing operations supporting CNAL/CNAP aircraft carriers, including excess material accountability.
Maintain and update inventory databases containing noun names, control numbers, short descriptions, and material status.
Support inventory reconciliation, material disposition, and redistribution efforts to optimize supply availability.
Maintain and update logistics and supply databases to ensure data accuracy and configuration alignment.
Apply inventory control procedures and material tracking processes consistent with Navy supply policies.
Utilize NAVSUP Publication 409 (MILSTRAP/MILSTRIP) to manage requisitions, material movement, and status reporting.
Coordinate with shipboard personnel, Maintenance Support Centers (MSC), and CNAF logistics stakeholders to resolve material issues impacting readiness.
Provide logistics input to readiness assessments, availability planning, and ROC decision-making processes.
Support logistics-related briefings, reports, and data calls required by CNAF leadership.
Experience:
Minimum of six (6) years of experience in naval supply, including material expediting, ordering, inventory management, and material research.
Technical Skills:
Demonstrated ability to maintain and update supply and inventory databases.
Familiarity with inventory control procedures and material status tracking systems.
Working knowledge of NAVSUP Publication 409 (MILSTRAP/MILSTRIP Desk Guide).
Operational Knowledge:
Understanding of shipboard logistics operations and supply support for aircraft carriers or similar naval platforms.
Experience supporting TYCOM, MSC, or carrier-level logistics operations.
Familiarity with logistics readiness reporting in support of OFRP or similar readiness frameworks.
Experience working in government or shipboard operational environments.
