Supply Chain Manager

Location: San Diego

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Supply Chain Manager to oversee customer service, order fulfillment, invoicing, third-party cold storage operations, transportation coordination, and inventory management. This role is responsible for ensuring customer orders are processed accurately, shipped on time, invoiced correctly, and supported with exceptional service while maintaining inventory integrity and controlling logistics costs.

This is a fast-paced, high-volume position that requires the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, adapt to changing customer needs, and make sound decisions quickly. The successful candidate will be comfortable working under tight deadlines, solving problems in real time, and keeping operations moving efficiently in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience in food manufacturing, cold storage operations, logistics, inventory management, customer service, and order management. This position will supervise the Supply Chain Coordinator and work closely with Sales, Production, Quality Assurance, Accounting, customers, brokers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all daily supply chain operations related to customer order fulfillment.
  • Supervise and mentor the Supply Chain Operations Coordinator.
  • Oversee customer service activities, ensuring timely responses and excellent support for customers and brokers.
  • Ensure customer purchase orders are reviewed, entered, and processed accurately.
  • Oversee customer invoicing to ensure all shipments are billed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage product releases from third-party cold storage facilities based on customer purchase orders.
  • Oversee inventory levels and inventory accuracy across multiple 3PL warehouses.
  • Coordinate transportation planning, obtain competitive freight quotes, and approve carrier selection.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Ensure all required customer documentation, shipping documents, and forms are completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Oversee customer sample requests and supporting documentation.
  • Verify and approve third-party storage, handling, and transportation invoices.
  • Monitor inventory reconciliations and resolve inventory discrepancies with 3PL providers.
  • Follow up with cold storage facilities to ensure timely execution of releases and other pending activities.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to customer service, inventory accuracy, logistics performance, invoicing, and order fulfillment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce logistics and storage costs.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Production, Quality Assurance, Accounting, and Operations to ensure seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, inventory management, customer service, or operations.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers and cold storage facilities preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control, transportation, freight management, order fulfillment, and invoicing.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions quickly while managing competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems is preferred.
Preferred Experience
  • Food manufacturing, food distribution, or cold chain logistics.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Net Suite, Produce Pro, or similar.
  • Experience managing customer accounts, invoicing, and transportation operations.
