Role SummaryThe Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional purchasing professionals to drive value across our indirect spend categories. As a Senior Global Sourcing Manager, Construction you will serve as a key individual contributor leading strategic procurement activities for design and construction projects to support Rivian’s growing operations across the commercial, workplace and charging programs.
In this role, you will partner with Facilities, Real Estate, Finance, and Legal to develop sourcing strategies, execute procurements, and manage supplier performance, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and timely project outcomes while maintaining strong procurement governance and alignment with Rivian’s standards.
The successful candidate will bring deep knowledge of construction purchasing and strategic sourcing, including construction labor, materials, equipment, contractors, subcontractors, and facilities-related services. They will be comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment, managing multiple projects and priorities, and influencing stakeholders and suppliers through data-driven recommendations and strong commercial judgment.
This position is based onsite in one of the following locations:
Irvine, Palo Alto, CA, Plymouth, MI, or Atlanta, GA reporting to the Sr. Manager, Construction & Facilities Materials Group Purchasing - Indirect Procurement.
- Sourcing:
- Develop and execute multi-year category strategies, pipelines, and procurement roadmaps for design, construction, and facilities spend related to the build out of service centers, retail spaces, workplace, and fast charging sites.
- Analyze spend, market dynamics, and supplier capabilities to identify value creation, cost savings, and risk mitigation opportunities.
- Drive supplier consolidation, standardization, specification optimization, and value engineering.
- Systems & Process:
- Leverage procurement systems for sourcing events, PO management, contract workflows, and spend visibility.
- Promote adherence to internal procurement policies, delegated authority, and governance standards.
- Technical Understanding:
- Apply deep expertise in construction purchasing and strategic sourcing to navigate market dynamics for labor, materials, equipment, and specialty contractors.
- Negotiations:
- Negotiate and manage NDAs, Master Services Agreements, Statements of Work, and change orders.
- Lead commercial negotiations regarding pricing, payment terms, warranties, schedule, liability, indemnification, and risk allocation.
- Partner with Legal, Risk, Safety, and Finance to ensure full contract compliance and auditable decision-making.
- Supplier Management:
- Establish performance expectations and KPIs (cost, schedule, quality, compliance) and conduct periodic business reviews.
- Monitor contractor capacity, supply market health, and lead times; implement risk mitigation plans for potential disruptions.
- Build a resilient, competitive supplier portfolio across key regions of the United States and Canada.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Partner cross-functionally (Construction, Facilities, Engineering, Real Estate) to translate project scopes, specifications, and budgets into clear procurement requirements.
- Project Management & Risk Mitigation:
- Oversee procurement of general contractors, specialty trades, labor, building materials.
- Lead bid-leveling, scope/spec reviews, and delivery-model decisions; track procurement milestones to proactively resolve supplier issues and project risks.
- Data Analysis:
- Perform spend, should-cost, bid-normalization, and total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) analyses.
