About the Opportunity
Our client is a national specialty retailer with a large private brand portfolio. Their global sourcing team recently centralized operations at headquarters and is actively building out the group, so this is a chance to join a team in growth mode with real visibility.
This role sits on the sourcing team as an individual contributor supporting private brand product in an assigned category. It is a strong fit for someone with a couple of years of sourcing or procurement experience who likes owning vendor relationships, digging into cost, and keeping a lot of moving pieces on track.
Note:
this position is replacing an existing full-time seat, and there is genuine conversion potential for the right person.
- Own supplier relationships for an assigned private brand category
- Communicate with domestic and international vendors on pricing, timelines, and production status
- Negotiate costing and analyze cost drivers to make sure product hits profitability targets
- Move new product development from concept through production to on-time delivery
- Monitor product already on shelf to protect in-stock position
- Troubleshoot and problem solve as issues come up across your categories
- Partner with merchants, inventory, product development, and design to bring product to life
- 2-3 years of sourcing or procurement experience. Direct or indirect procurement both work
- Experience communicating with and negotiating with suppliers or vendors
- Solid cost analysis skills. You can explain why something costs what it costs and push for a better number
- Strong Excel. This is the tool you’ll be in every day
- Excellent communication. You can adjust how you deliver a message depending on the audience
- Well organized, comfortable running several things at once
- Collaborative and adaptable. The team is evolving and priorities shift
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Industry background is flexible. You do not need retail experience. Merchandising, buying, or product development backgrounds are welcome, though direct sourcing experience is prioritized. International supplier experience is a plus but not required.
Good to Know- Hours are somewhat fluid. Global suppliers mean occasional early morning or evening calls

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40 to $44/HR. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
