Senior Buyer – Purchasing

Advanced Mechatronics Solutions is a San Diego-based engineering company that designs and builds autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), collaborative robot systems, and custom automation equipment for manufacturers across North America. Our customers include major manufacturers in the automotive, electronics, aerospace, and industrial sectors throughout the U.S. and Mexico.

We are looking for a Senior Buyer to take ownership of our purchasing function. You will manage sourcing and procurement for the mechanical, electrical, and electronic components that go into our robotics and automation systems, as well as the materials that support our Lean Manufacturing product line.

This role reports directly on company leadership and works closely with our engineering, production, and project management teams. If you want a seat at the table rather than a queue of purchase orders, this is that role.

• Source and purchase mechanical components, electrical parts, fabricated materials, and finished goods to support engineering and production schedules
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers; negotiate pricing, lead times, and payment terms
• Manage supplier relationships and hold vendors accountable for on-time delivery and quality
• Issue and track purchase orders through delivery; expedite when schedules are at risk
• Work with engineering to source components for new designs and custom builds
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production to prevent shortages and reduce excess stock
• Manage cross-border logistics and documentation for shipments between the U.S. and Mexico
• Maintain accurate supplier records, pricing history, and lead time data in Quick Books
• Identify cost savings opportunities and alternate sources for critical single-source components

• 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buying experience
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment
• Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications
• Strong negotiation skills and comfort dealing directly with suppliers
• Proficiency with Quick Books and Microsoft Excel
• Authorized to work in the United States

• Bilingual English/Spanish - a significant advantage given our supplier and customer base in Mexico
• Korean language ability is a plus for communication with our Korean-based suppliers and partners
• Experience sourcing electrical, electronic, or mechanical components
• Familiarity with cross-border trade, customs documentation, or IMMEX/maquiladora operations
• Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field
