Duties
* You will perform inspections and maintenance on shipboard and shore-based catapult, arresting gear and visual landing aids.
* You will disassemble, repair, inspect, adjust, align, and installs water brake cylinders, covers, launch and exhaust valves, operates cylinder gap test equipment, assists in dead-load testing of catapults and retract engine as relating to catapults.
* You will disassemble, repair, adjusts, aligns, install sheave nests, crossheads, accumulators CRO valves/drive sys, anchor/sheave dampers, fairlead sys, wire supt. assemblies, barricade sys, retractable sheave assemblies in aircraft arresting sys.
* You will installs service changes, repairs and aligns pumps, performs hydrostatic tests on valves, hydraulic cylinders, heat exchangers and pneumatic components.
* You will perform test operations on machinery and alters equipment to provide access or permit observation during tests or experiments.
* You will utilize various portable machine tools and grinders; uses precision measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges, height gauges, and various types of micrometers laser for catapult alignment and Theodolite.
* You will perform and assists with various jobs on engines, lathes, milling machines, drill press, boring mills and other machinery associated with inside machine shop work and equipment. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

* In order to meet the demands of the VRT, incumbent will be required to operate Material Handling Equipment -- SEE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Incumbent must therefore meet all requirements to operate such equipment.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
* You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
* This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
