The starting salary for this position will be based on the candidate's qualifications at time of appointment.
Future Salary Increases
June 2026 - 3.0% increase to base pay (Across-the-Board)

Planning & Development Services

PDS is responsible for long range land use planning, including the County of San Diego's General Plan, Climate Action Plan (CAP), and Zoning Ordinance. The department evaluates land use projects for regulatory compliance and environmental impacts, manages long range planning policy formulation, and related ordinances.
PDS advises the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission on all land use projects, policy, and programs in the unincorporated county. PDS has seven major divisions:

You are invited to apply for Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical Coordinator; if selected, you will be an integral part of our mission. Our department is located at the County Operations Center, a modern 44-acre regional complex in Kearney Mesa. The Operations Center includes 18 structures and houses 19 departments, including an employee gym/workout center.
The Position
Incumbents in this position check commercial and residential plans for mechanical, plumbing, and electrical code compliance; and provide technical training and guidance to the Building Inspection staff on matters related to electrical, plumbing and mechanical plan checking and inspection; and perform the most difficult and specialized code inspections.
Work Schedule
The selected candidate may be assigned a hybrid schedule consisting of teleworking or working remotely; and working at the County Operations Center in Kearny Mesa.

Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) years of journey-level experience performing electrical, plumbing, and mechanical plan review and/or inspections in the construction field enforcing building codes. This experience must include inspections of commercial and industrial buildings, subdivision tracts, apartments and condominiums.
