Overview

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, assembly instructions, specifications, and work orders to understand layouts, sequences of operations, part relationships, and tolerances.
  • Assemble, fit, align, and install mechanical parts, subassemblies, and components (e.g., brackets, hinges, fasteners, structural elements, or precision hardware) using hand tools, power tools, rivet guns, torque wrenches, and other specialized equipment.
  • Develop work instructions for future builds beyond first article/low-rate initial production runs as appropriate.
  • Prepare components by gathering parts, cleaning surfaces, deburring, sanding, or performing minor adjustments to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Install hardware such as helicoils, dowel pins, spring pins, heat inserts, PEM fasteners, rivnuts, or similar precision fasteners common in aerospace applications.
  • Seal, rig, install and complete structural or system components, including working with LRUs, Wire Harnesses, or mechanical structures where applicable.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, DMMs) and shop mathematics to verify dimensions, alignments, tolerances, and functional fit.
  • Provide BOMs to production for acquisition and assist in fielding technical questions from Purchasing for the acquisition of parts.
  • Complete tasks as assigned in Jira and maintain accurate status on tickets in Jira.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues, adjust or rework parts as needed, and report anomalies or non-conformances while contributing to corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow strict safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls, and aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100).
  • Document work performed, complete inspection reports, and record any deviations or test results in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • 5-7 years of mechanical assembly experience, preferably in aerospace, automotive, defense, aviation, or a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • High attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to identify defects or non-conformances.
  • Ability to work in a team, follow strict safety protocols, and maintain a clean/organized workspace.
  • Physical capability to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights (e.g., up to 25–50 lbs depending on the role), bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
