Role OverviewAn opportunity is available for a Manufacturing Assembler responsible for building electronic, mechanical, and optical assemblies for measurement instruments and related systems. This is an assembly role, not a technician role, focused on constructing sophisticated components such as optical benches, mirrors, circuit boards, and spectrometers. The position requires working with sensitive components, moving independently from one task to the next while following documented instructions, and meeting production priorities in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Follow assembly documentation to complete sub-assemblies, system assemblies, upgrades, or full instrument builds.
- Perform electronic assembly, including crimping, soldering, and cable installation.
- Conduct mechanical assembly using basic hand tools.
- Perform optical alignment and calibration.
- Prepare instruments or accessories for technical review, certification, packaging, and shipment.
- Identify and document issues such as missing materials, building discrepancies, or alignment concerns.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and elevate issues to technical support when necessary.
- Use computer systems to review schedules, manage tasks, and track work order progress.
- Communicate effectively with technicians, manufacturing engineers, and inventory control teams.
Experience: Candidates should have approximately 4-6 years of professional experience in manufacturing assembly, PCB/circuit board assembly, or electromechanical assembly. Experience working from documentation and procedures is required.
Education: A high school diploma or GED with relevant manufacturing experience is sufficient. No college degree is required.
Technical
Skills:
The position requires hands-on assembly skills, attention to detail, and a basic mechanical and electrical understanding. Candidates must have strong computer proficiency, including the ability to navigate software applications, manage files, and learn new systems. The role involves working carefully with sensitive components, including cable harnesses, small soldered parts, fibers, optical components, and mechanically aligned assemblies.
- Experience in optics-related manufacturing or with spectrometers.
- Cleanroom experience is beneficial but not required.
This role operates in a clean manufacturing environment with specialized work booths designed to reduce dust and improve visibility. It is not an assembly line environment. Heavy lifting is generally not required, as material handling processes and support are in place.
