Location:

San Diego, CA (Sorrento Valley)

Shift: 2nd Shift | 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Shift Differential: 5%

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Reagent Manufacturing Technician I to join our growing manufacturing team in San Diego. In this role, you will support the production of critical reagent and buffer products used in life sciences applications. Working alongside scientists, engineers, and manufacturing professionals, you will help ensure the consistent production of high-quality consumables while contributing to process improvements and continuous innovation.

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline who are looking to build hands-on manufacturing and laboratory experience in a fast-paced biotechnology environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture reagents, buffers, and consumables according to established procedures and production schedules.
  • Perform reagent formulation, filling, packaging, and labeling activities.
  • Conduct quality control testing and inspections to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Troubleshoot formulation, filling, packaging, and analytical process issues.
  • Collect, analyze, and document production and quality data accurately.
  • Complete work orders and support inventory replenishment activities.
  • Execute and maintain batch records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, procedures, and product quality.
  • Support inventory management through cycle counts, material receipt, and stock replenishment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • Provide line support for kit assembly operations and perform simple buffer formulations up to 50 liters.
  • Assist with additional production and troubleshooting activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field preferred.
  • 0-2 years of laboratory, manufacturing, or related industry experience.
  • Basic knowledge of reagent preparation, laboratory practices, and quality control principles.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment such as:
    • UV-Vis Spectrophotometers
    • pH Meters
    • Conductivity Meters
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with in biotechnology, life sciences, consumables manufacturing, or laboratory production environments.
  • Familiarity with formulation, chromatography, filling, and packaging processes.
  • Experience creating or updating Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Knowledge of GMP documentation, SOPs, batch records, and work instructions.
Work Environment
  • Approximately 80% reagent formulation and manufacturing activities.
  • Approximately 20% filling and packaging operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
