Position: Manufacturing Engineer (CM) of Medical Devices in San Diego

Job Description Job Description

Spectrum Assembly, Inc., is in search of a practical, analytical Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys working on the production floor and partnering with Production, Quality, Operations, and Engineering teams to solve problems and drive continuous improvement. This role is responsible for improving production documentation, process capability, line performance, product quality, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and production efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain clear production documentation, work instructions and DHRs.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, variation, downtime, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support process capability, quality improvement, and statistical process control activities.
  • Partner with Quality to lead root-cause investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes for quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Support new products and process changes as they move into production.
  • Partner with operators, cross-functional teams and customers to identify and implement improvements.
  • Support Lean, 6S, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to resolve day-to-day production challenges.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree or 5+ years of equivalent technical experience.
  • Manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience with process improvement, root-cause analysis, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, process control, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively with both production personnel and engineering teams.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to spend time on the production floor.
