FULL DESCRIPTION:We are seeking an Electromechanical Assembler to support the build, assembly, wiring, soldering, bonding, testing, and final production of precision sensor systems and related electromechanical assemblies. This role is responsible for assembling mechanical components, soldering electronic components, applying coatings to printed circuit boards, installing printed circuit boards into housings, cutting and stripping wiring, assembling harnesses, terminating connectors, testing sensors and circuit boards, and supporting failure analysis activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical assembly skills, experience in a precision production environment, the ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, and a high level of attention to detail and quality.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Physically building deliverable sensor systems
• Assembling mechanical components
• Soldering electronic components
• Applying coatings to printed circuit boards
• Installing printed circuit boards into sensor housings
• Precisely cutting and stripping wiring
• Mounting fasteners and assembling electromechanical components
• Fastening and sealing electromechanical assemblies using bonding and sealing agents
• Performing final machining, cutting, or bonding operations on components such as sensor housings, sense elements, and fine wires
• Assembling wiring harnesses and terminating connectors
• Assembling circuit boards, connectors, ribbon cables, jumpers, and other electronic components into custom-built enclosures
• Testing sensors and printed circuit boards using electrical test equipment and LabVIEW-based software scripts
• Participating in inventory management activities
• Supporting quarterly inventory checks
• Conducting final assembly of sensor systems onto customer driveshafts
• Applying sealant and ensuring integrity of completed assemblies
• Certifying system fitness for homologation as required
• Participating in failure analysis activities
• Dissecting and analyzing hardware returned from the field
• Conducting diagnostic and validation testing
• Comparing test results with original results
• Assisting with detailed reports outlining findings
• Following quality, safety, documentation, and production procedures
• Performing other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

• At least 2 years of full-time experience in a related role required
• Experience working in a precision environment required
• Aerospace, machining, PCB assembly, sensor assembly, or related production experience preferred
• Strong electrical assembly skills required
• Strong mechanical assembly skills required
• Strong attention to detail required
• Good craftsmanship and commitment to quality required
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings required
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics required
• Familiarity with wiring harness assembly protocols using AWG 20-gauge harnesses or smaller preferred
• Familiarity with processing adhesives preferred
• Soldering experience preferred
• General machine shop skills preferred
• Experience with circuit boards, connectors, ribbon cables, jumpers, and custom enclosures preferred
• Experience using electrical test equipment preferred
• LabVIEW or equivalent software experience preferred
• Understanding of sensor or instrumentation calibration protocols preferred
• Ability to support inventory management and inventory checks
• Ability to support failure analysis and diagnostic testing
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to maintain accuracy while performing detailed assembly work
• Ability to work onsite in San Diego, CA

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout production, assembly, testing, and shop areas as needed
