Position: Assembly Technician (Local)

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for production and processing of flight avionics and harnesses, mechanical and electrical integration to high level work/rework instructions.

  • Solders and reworks fine pitch components and discrete components as small as 0402 size.

  • Constructs flight harness elements on hardware, including crimping conductors for connectors in accordance with NASA and IPC standards and Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) mitigation and control.

  • Schedules work activities in coordination with all team member and maintains status of work.

  • Ensures manufacturing progress is reported appropriately and issues are documented and resolved.

  • Records requirement verification from tests and inspections and follows written procedures.

  • Documents production details of flight hardware and ensures flight processing activities are recorded in accordance with program and company processes.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Performs other duties as required or requested which may become essential to this position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma / GED

  • Minimum 2-3 years of wiring harness assembly/integration or general electrical and electronics fabrication/rework experience

  • J-STD-001ES certification for soldering with Space Addendum or equivalent is required

  • Experience cleaning, staking, under filling and masking per NASA-STD 8739.1 in preparation for Parylene coating, or familiarity with similar commercial standards and ability to follow the NASA Standard with minimal oversight

  • Knowledge of electronics lab standard practices, especially ESD mitigation/control, ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

  • Able to apply industry standard cable and wire harness design practices in development harnesses

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620, Class 3 Certification for Cable and Wire Harness Manufacturing Familiarity with basic fabrication equipment including soldering workstations, microscopes, power supplies, multimeters, hand tools and crimping tools.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with satellites, launch vehicles, or other spacecraft.

  • Good interpersonal communication skills to stay in sync with the rest of the team

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461 or equivalent EMI mitigation techniques.

  • Knowledge of and experience with DWV, Hi-Pot, and/or IR testing to verify quality cable construction.

  • Knowledge of NASA-STD-8739.4A for Wire Crimping and AS50881 for Aerospace Wiring.
