Looking for a Machinist 1 to support our machining department. As a member of the machining department you’ll get to waterjet machine composites. This position will serve on-site at our San Diego structures site.

Responsibilities
:

• Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
• Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.
• Some machines may be numerically controlled.
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Basic Qualifications for Machinist 1:

• Must have experience with setting up and running Flow waterjet.
• Able to understand machining theory and strategy
• Able to understand and interrogate mechanical drawings and tolerances
• Ability to use common machine shop hand and measurement tools
• Self-motivation, able to accomplish a high level of work
• Team player, actively participating in continuous improvement projects with coworkers.
• Demonstrate high skill level with the desire for continuous learning
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work with limited supervision including using sound judgment to execute independent decisions and departmental initiatives.
• Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.

Preferred Qualifications for Machinist 1:

• Experience programming with Flow software.
• Prior experience in an aerospace environment preferred
