Maintenance Technician

Location:
San Diego, CA Pay Rate: $26.75 – $40.75 per hour
Schedule:
1st shift 5:00am
-1:30pm Looking for Maintenance Technician jobs in San Diego where your technical skills keep equipment operating at its best? This opportunity allows you to troubleshoot problems, perform repairs, and help maintain the systems that keep production moving safely and efficiently.
Job Duties
- Perform advanced preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues.
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, rebuild, and replace machine components to minimize downtime.
- Conduct equipment performance testing using diagnostic instruments including voltmeters, pressure gauges, and other testing tools.
- Read and work from blueprints, schematics, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Maintain spare parts inventory, manage maintenance-related budgets, and procure necessary materials.
- Perform equipment safety inspections and support forklift, LOTO, and safety training programs.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, environmental regulations, and workplace safety policies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency through Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support production operations and perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Forklift Certification required.
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Certification required.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Basic math skills including measurements, calculations, and problem-solving.
Experience Requirements
- 8+ years of manufacturing experience.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with preventive maintenance (PM) software and spare parts inventory management.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, and quality systems (ISO/AS certifications) preferred.
Physical Capabilities
- Regularly lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
- Use hands and fingers to safely operate tools, instruments, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safety and quality standards.
