Description

This position requires giving chemotherapy, biotherapy, clinical trials infusion and other infusion-related services as well as access central lines (PICC or port). This position will also perform dressing changes, administer injections in a fast-paced outpatient infusion center setting. This position also requires caring for Cellular Transplant patients and will be trained to work with patients on clinical trials. This position requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills, as evidenced by demonstrated critical thinking and the ability to respond and handle urgent medical emergencies.
Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Current California RN license.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification with recent experience (within the last 6 months).
- Minimum one (1) year of recent (within the last 6 months) oncology infusion center or acute care oncology experience, with experience in infusing cancer-directed therapy. BMT and Clinical trial experience is highly preferred.
- Must have proven independent thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and prioritizing skills.
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN.
- Recent infusion center experience.
- BMT experience.
- Clinical Trials Infusion experience.
- OCN certification.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical.
- Weekend availability is required.
- Must be able to float to other UC San Diego Health infusion center locations as needed.
- Selected candidates may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
Annual Full Pay Range: $131,335 - $184,078 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $62.90 - $88.16
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
