Overview
ERP International is seeking a temporary Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Inpatient Pediatrics Unit at Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA.
Responsibilities- Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals; facilitate optimal outcomes in clinical care, quality, and cost effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
- Perform physical exams and health histories.
- Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
- Administer medications, wound care, and other personalized interventions.
- May provide clinical direction or assist in instruction of care provided by other healthcare professionals within scope of clinical privileges; may not serve as Charge Nurse on a unit/ward.
- Provide clinical direction for making patient care assignments based on scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
- Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
- Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people to inform the healthcare team of plans/actions and to educate patients and families.
- Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
- Maintain a level of productivity comparable with peers performing similar services.
- Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities.
- Practice aseptic techniques; comply with infection control guidelines, proper handling and disposal of infectious wastes, and universal precautions.
- Function with awareness and application of safety procedures; perform effectively in emergency patient situations following established protocols; document events.
- Anticipate potential problems or emergencies and take appropriate actions; notify supervisor or leadership when issues exceed the HCW’s scope.
- Apply awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care to manage situations with reduced risk.
- Participate in the Family Advocacy Program as directed, including medical examination, documentation, and reporting.
- Maintain awareness of patient/significant others' rights as identified within the MTF.
- Maintain accountability for own professional practice; participate in continuing education and the command’s Performance Improvement Program.
- Participate in meetings to review and evaluate care; identify opportunities for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist with in-service training and provide training or clinical direction to government HCWs (e.g., hospital corpsmen, students).
- Attend and participate in meetings as directed; perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care.
- Operate and utilize automated systems (e.g., ADS, MHS Genesis); participate in PI and RM functions as prescribed.
- Maintain DOD email account and respond to communications; maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with clinic directives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years within the last 5 years in an inpatient pediatric ward setting.
- Life Support Certification: Current AHA or ARC BLS; PALS.
- Licensure: Full, current, and unrestricted nursing license in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia; must maintain licensure to practice in the United States.
- Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
