This position is posted as a newly licensed Nurse Practitioner role for clinicians early in their NP practice.

Under the direction of the Hematology and Cellular Therapy attending physician and APP Supervisor, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides primary medical management for oncology/HCT patients. Acts as a liaison within the HCT Program to promote consistent medical management of the patients across the health care continuum by collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team. Performs specialized procedures such as bone marrow biopsy, lumbar puncture and skin biopsy.
Presents patient cases during weekly HCT Clinical meetings. Provides patient/family and staff education. Supports the development and revision of HCT divisional policies and procedures. Participates in and/or initiates research. Participates in community outreach and networking with community physicians and other health care professionals. Provides care to HCT patients in the outpatient setting. Develops and expands role responsibilities as patient and system needs change.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Must be a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and California NP Furnishing License Certification.
- National NP board certification in an aligned specialty with the practice area.
- BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
- Less than 6 months of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
- A minimum of two (2+) or more years of recent inpatient BMT or oncology RN experience within an academic or high-acuity hospital setting (within the last two years).
- Foundational knowledge of blood and marrow transplant (BMT), CAR-T therapy, and hematologic malignancies, including treatment pathways, complications (GVHD, infection), and expected patient outcomes.
- Understanding of oncology/BMT-specific pathophysiology, including normal and abnormal lab values and symptom management.
- Strong clinical assessment skills, with the ability to recognize changes in patient condition and appropriately elevate care in a fast-paced inpatient environment.
- Demonstrated experience in high-acuity settings, managing competing priorities with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary care team, collaborating with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and ancillary staff to support coordinated patient care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to support and educate patients and families through complex and emotionally challenging care.
- Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and a willingness to learn, with openness to feedback and growth when caring for patients with complex oncologic and transplant-related needs.
