Position: RN Surgery (OR) - Day/Mid shift - Mercy San Diego

Position Overview

Full‑time, 12‑hour day/mid shift RN position at Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego. Start time 8:30 am or 10:30 am depending on business needs. The role offers a $4,000 incentive for eligible new hires and a $3,000 relocation incentive. The hospital is located at 4077 Fifth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care within the scope of RN practice; assesses, plans, implements care plans and evaluates patient progress.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for patients’ care delivered by the care team under its supervision.
  • Collaborates with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Works within a busy, close‑knit Surgery Department as a Perioperative RN across 10 operating room suites (trauma, ortho, spine, urology, bariatric, plastics, robotics and general).
Incentives & Eligibility
  • $4,000 incentive for eligible new hires.
  • $3,000 relocation incentive.
  • Not eligible: internal candidates; rehires who left Scripps less than 3 years ago.
  • Retention incentive conditions: remain in original FTE status and shift; remain in original department/specialty; remain in original job title; transfers to other locations may be reviewed case‑by‑case and could result in forfeiture of remaining incentive.
Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent RN experience in the operating room.
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Registered Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association).
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and following instructions in English.
  • Ability to demonstrate positive behaviors in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Two or more years OR experience.
  • Trauma Level 1 experience.
  • Previous OR charge experience.
  • EPIC system experience.
  • Peri Op 101 course.
  • Well‑rounded experience in all service lines.
