Hourly Pay Range (Minimum
- Midpoint
- Maximum): $61.740 - $70.170 - $90.160. The stated pay scale reflects the range as defined by the collective bargaining agreement between Sharp Health Care, Sharp Professional Nurses Network, United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals, NUHHCE, AFSME, AFL-CIO. Placement within the range is based on years of RN experience.
Provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families.
- Delegate, assign, and communicate expectations for care delivery processes to each team member while evaluating what can and cannot be delegated.
- Analyze each situation and apply appropriate levels of supervision (unsupervised, initial direction with periodic inspection, continuous supervision, or non-delegation).
- Assess physician orders for appropriateness and question orders when necessary; document per department guidelines to create a comprehensive, concise patient care picture.
- Serve as a resource for staff on unit‑specific documentation issues; ensure charting reflects critical thinking and problem‑oriented approaches.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families, anticipate and manage problems related to spiritual, cultural, language, or health barriers.
- Adapt nursing interventions to meet diverse social and cultural needs.
- Act as a patient advocate, removing obstacles, identifying and supporting patient needs, interpreting communication between patient and physician.
- Help coworkers improve performance by offering assistance, positive feedback, and constructive criticism in a supportive manner.
- Provide unit‑specific information to students, floats, travelers, registry personnel; give incidental teaching to team members.
- Provide age‑appropriate education to facilitate recovery, self‑care, end‑of‑life care, health maintenance, promotion, and wellness.
- Coordinate transfer, discharge planning, and teaching in collaboration with the health‑care team; develop and revise patient education materials.
- Use systematic planning, appropriate methods, and timely information exchange with multidisciplinary team and family to coordinate care.
- Demonstrate ability to focus on multiple patient needs and manage care aspects; actively communicate with the care team to plan patient care.
- Utilize available resources to problem‑solve and determine the most effective approach; employ the nursing process and critical thinking to deliver individualized, goal‑directed care consistent with safety standards.
- Continuously evaluate interventions and adjust plans based on evolving patient and family needs; identify potential problems and make referrals as indicated.
- Prioritize demand for resources and collaborate with others to meet individualized patient needs.
- Serve as a preceptor, guiding other nurses on applying the nursing process for the unit population.
- Make appropriate referrals based on ongoing assessment and evaluation; implement safe, therapeutic, and efficient care for patients with complex multi‑system disease or treatment complications.
- Demonstrate accountability for achieving patient outcomes; recognize diagnoses quickly, even when presenting symptoms vary.
- Graduate of nursing school.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience.
- California Registered Nurse (RN), CA Board of Registered Nursing - REQUIRED.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (AHA BLS Healthcare) - REQUIRED.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification - REQUIRED.
- Independently perform the nursing process through individualized assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic, efficient care for patients along the continuum, both overt and subtle needs, according to unit standards of care.
