Faculty members are responsible for delivering high-quality clinical instruction while fostering student success through mentorship, professional role modeling, and evidence-based nursing education.
All faculty are expected to adhere to the Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing Faculty Handbook, College policies, and California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) requirements.
Faculty play a key role in integrating:
- Jean Watson's Theory of Caring
- Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies
- The Nursing Process
- Evidence-based practice and patient-centered care
- Supervise and evaluate students during clinical experiences in OB/GYN settings.
- Guide students in applying the nursing process and clinical judgment.
- Foster critical thinking, professional accountability, and ethical nursing practice.
- Conduct clinical conferences, competency validations, and student evaluations.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and individualized feedback to support student success.
- Facilitate laboratory instruction and hands-on skill development when assigned.
- Model best practices in safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Support student understanding of patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Promote quality improvement, safety initiatives, and informed clinical decision-making.
Faculty are expected to incorporate QSEN competencies into instruction, including:

- Informatics
Faculty will help students integrate Watson's Caring Theory and Ten Carative Factors into nursing practice through:
- Clinical teaching and role modeling
- Classroom and post-clinical discussions
- Assignments and competency evaluations
- Evidence-based caring practices
- Participate in curriculum implementation and continuous program improvement.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and fellow faculty.
- Support accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, professionalism, and lifelong learning.
- Promote nursing research and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Must possess:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including coursework in nursing or relevant natural, behavioral, or social sciences.
- Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the assigned nursing area, demonstrated by either:
- One (1) year of continuous full-time (or equivalent) direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse in the designated nursing area; or
