Critical Care RN
The Critical Care RN assumes the following major duties and responsibilities:
Charge Nurse and Preceptor competent.Competently manage patients with complex diagnosis requiring ICU treatment modalities such as continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), Intra-aortic balloon pump monitoring and care for the post open heart surgery patients.Demonstrate ability to appropriately manage use of the Fem Stop, and any other external vascular closure device.Demonstrate ability to transduce pressure lines (Arterial and CVP).Demonstrates ability to appropriately manage patient on Patient Controlled Analgesia.Demonstrates ability to appropriately manage patient on ETCO
2.Demonstrates ability to respond as a Code Blue Recorder, Medication Nurse, Code Facilitator, Assistant Code Leader and Rapid Response Nurse.Demonstrates ability to operate the Zoll R series biphasic defibrillator (Advance Life Support) on a patient.Demonstrate ability to titrate vasoactive drips appropriate for all critical care patients to achieve hemodynamic stability.Demonstrate ability to appropriately manage mechanically ventilated patients.Demonstrate safe and therapeutic care of the patient with epicardial and transvenous pacing.Safely participates in the resuscitation of a patient during a code blue and rapid response situation.Manages the critically ill patients during and after procedures where moderate sedation is needed.Competent in reading and interpreting ECG strips; and identifying abnormal and lethal rhythms.Strong interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.Demonstrate organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion.Participates as a member or assumes a leadership role on formal service level committees, councils, or performance improvement teams.Assesses the patient's learning needs, learning preference, and readiness to learn. Modifies teaching approach based on knowledge of human behavior, motivations, and reactions to situations.Assists the UPC, and the NM in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Units Score Card, addressing process related to the feedback from All Employee Survey.Proactively makes leadership choices to prioritize Veteran-Centered needs.Operate within allocated resources and takes the initiative to find solutions to operational challenges.Maintains knowledge and understanding of The Joint Commission requirements and ensures compliance with VA and OSHA standards.The Critical Care Unit Registered Nurse II reports to the Critical Care Unit Nurse Manager & Assistant Nurse Manager, who is the rating official: and to the Associate Nurse Executive, Inpatient Care Services, who is the approving official.This position requires flexibility in schedule and assignment, as this is a 24/7 facility.Perform other duties as assignedVA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards
Pay:
